Description
Ming Mu Di Huang Wan is  an excellent all around eye Chinese herbal formula for improving eyesight. It helps to treat poor vision, dry eyes, photophobia, red, irritated, and itchy eyes, excessive tearing and night blindness. Symptoms get worse with overuse of eyes. This formula can be used to treat glaucoma, cataracts, optic neuritis, retinitis, Sjogren's syndrome, myopia, and atrophy of optic nerve.

Ming Mu Di Huang Wan (Bright Eyes Rehmannia Pills) is named for its chief ingredient Rehmannia glutinosa, a cooling, moistening blood enhancing herb. The formula, a variant of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan, is recommended for vision problems that originate from internal heat especially liver inflammation, blood deficiency and poor circulation. Chronic stress, fatigue and bad habits are contributing factors. Pollution and overuse of vision with computers also increase internal heat. Used long term, Ming Mu Di Huang Wan is an ideal tonic to improve vision and prevent burn out. It is recommended for dry, itchy and tearing eye discomfort, poor eyesight, photophobia, and the prevention of eye diseases such as glaucoma and cataract.

Cheng JL, Huang LQ, Shao AJ, Lin SF.
Hospital of XuanWu Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing 100050, China.
OBJECTIVE: To provide molecular evidences for its breeding by studying the genetic relationship among varieties of Rehmannia glutinosa. METHOD: Nineteen varieties were detected by Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA(RAPD) markers. RESULT: The 20 selected primers produced 163 bands, among which 114(69.9%) were polymorphic. A DNA molecular dendrogram was established based on Hierarchical cluster analysis of 163 DNA bands amplified by 20 primers, which divided the 19 varieties into four groups: Group Beijing, Group 85-5, Group Guolimao and the other Group. CONCLUSION: 8 varieties of Group Beijing have a close genetic relationship, and so have varieties of Group 85-5, which provides information for Rehmannia glutinosa's breeding.
